All Shall Perish have released «Be As Kings, Be As Gods», their first new song since 2011. It’s produced by Zack Ohren, known on the San Francisco Bay Area scene for his work with Machine Head and Fallujah, and it’s out via Arson Theory, the label co-founded by the band’s own singer, Hernan «Eddie» Hermida.
Alongside the song comes a crowdfunding campaign to finance the whole record. The target is $75,000, with the spending broken down: $30,000 to finish recording, $18,000 for videos, $8,250 for promotion, $5,000 for mastering, and the rest split between platform fees and contingencies. They’re promising a second new song if the target is hit.
Right now they have neither a label nor a manager. In the campaign text, they speak plainly about fifteen years of lawsuits, fallouts and setbacks that explain why the band disappeared.
The announcement coincides with the twentieth-anniversary tour for «The Price of Existence», which kicked off on 4 September in Fresno and wraps up on 3 October in San Jose. That 2006 record, released by Nuclear Blast, was the first with Hermida and guitarist Chris Storey, and arrived just as the term deathcore was starting to stick as a label. It was followed by «Awaken the Dreamers» (2008) and «This Is Where It Ends» (2011); in 2013 Hermida left for Suicide Silence to replace Mitch Lucker, who’d died in an accident, and the band went on hold until their return was announced in 2015.
No title or release date has been announced yet for the new record.
