Annicke Shireen releases “Delirium”, her first solo album, on 13 November: ten tracks that move between alternative rock, metal, synthpop, folk and grunge. The first single is called “Come To Light” and is already out, with a video.
The Dutch singer has been in SHIREEN since 2018, where she joined as both vocalist and make-up artist, and in September she sang on Pure Reason Revolution’s “Terrifying Angels”. She holds a degree in fashion design, makes her own stagewear and worked on the first draft of a costume for Ninja Theory’s “Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga”.
“I wrote ‘Come To Light’ from frustration with the state of the world and the things society has learned to accept as normal,” she says. “I believe it’s a time of transformation, but we first need to see it all, to the point that we cannot unsee it.”
The record was going to be called “Hysteria” and ended up as “Delirium”. “It’s about the moment when the framework you have been living inside no longer fits,” she says. The first two dates are 31 October in Capelle aan den IJssel and 12 November in The Hague, the latter a record release show.
