Bastion Rose have released “Supernatural”, the last advance track from “Blue Rising”, out on 15 January 2027 through Epictronic. It will be the band’s second album: the first, “Traces of Gold”, came out on 7 November 2025, preceded by the EP “Fade to Blue”.

The song is about the need to believe in the supernatural, and opens with imagery of possession and moonlit communion before a chorus that demands “Bury me, bury me / And cover me in snake oil”. Slide guitar, banjo and stacked harmonies come in for the first time.

“The song carries this inherent creepiness because it deals with what terrifies us most,” the band say. “We surround ourselves with myths, prayers, and superstitions because the alternative — that we are nothing more than matter, destined to decay — is an unsettling possibility to face.”

The band, from Bloomington, Indiana, are already back in the studio cutting their next record with David Bottrill, who produced their debut and has worked with Tool, Rush, Mastodon, Coheed and Cambria and Godsmack.
