Butcher Babies release “Nightbloom” on 2 October, ten tracks on Judge & Jury Records and the Los Angeles band’s first album since singer Carla Harvey, who had shared the microphone from the start, left in 2024. The previous record was the 2023 double “Eye For An Eye… / …’Til The World’s Blind”.
Heidi Shepherd is left alone out front, with Henry Flury on guitar, Sean Violet on bass and Devin Nickles on drums. Howard Benson produced, whose credits include My Chemical Romance, Halestorm and Daughtry.
“A couple of years ago, I found myself in a web of darkness that I couldn’t shake. A vicious cycle of self loathing and doubt, all while my support system did everything in their power to remind me of who I am,” Shepherd says about writing the record. “I desperately wanted to see in myself what they saw in me.”
Five of the ten tracks already have videos: “Lost In Your Touch”, “Sincerity”, “Blame It On The Wind”, “Black Dove” and “Leaving California”, out this week. The band has announced no European dates for the album.
