The saxophonist returns to the Barcelona Jazz Festival with Matt Brewer and Kendrick Scott and a set of music he has yet to record
| Date | Tuesday 17 November 2026 |
| Venue | Conservatori del Liceu |
| Address | Carrer Nou de la Rambla, 88 — Barcelona |
| Start | 8.30pm |
| Promoter | The Project · 58th Barcelona Jazz Festival |
Saxophonist Chris Potter brings a trio to the 58th Barcelona Jazz Festival, with Matt Brewer on double bass and Kendrick Scott on drums, and much of what they play at the Conservatori del Liceu on Tuesday 17 November at 8.30pm hasn’t been recorded yet.
Potter has told the festival the set will be mostly new material, which the trio plans to record once the tour is over, plus probably a few pieces from “Alive With Ghosts Today”, his latest album. It came out this year on Edition Records and features Bill Frisell, Burniss Travis, Nate Smith, Rane Moore, Zekkereya El-Magharbel and Sara Caswell.
It will be the eighth time the festival has booked him as a leader or co-leader. He made his debut there as a leader in 2008 with his Underground Quartet, and he’s been back six times since: with various trios, twice with the Crosscurrents Trio he shares with Dave Holland — the first time, in 2020, with Zakir Hussain — and once with the quartet of Holland, Lionel Loueke and Eric Harland.
At 4.30pm on the same day Potter gives a masterclass at the Conservatori, free with the code printed on the concert ticket. Amics del Jazz members get 15% off. Neither the festival’s page nor The Project’s lists the ticket price.
