Christian McBride and Ursa Major release their first album, “Points of Light”, on 30 October

The only cover on “Points of Light”, the first album by Christian McBride’s quintet Ursa Major, is George Duke’s “No Rhyme, No Reason”, and it was the first track released ahead of the record. It’s out on Mack Avenue Records on 30 October. With McBride (bass) are Nicole Glover (saxophone), Ely Perlman (guitar), Mike King (piano) and Savannah Harris (drums).

The quintet had already put out a 7-inch single on the same label in 2025, “More Is Smo’”. The album is out on vinyl and CD.
