Circle Jerks release “Revenge Of Nervous Breakdown” on 20 November, a four-song EP of material Keith Morris was already singing before he founded the band: “Depression”, “Fix Me”, “Revenge” and “Nervous Breakdown”, all from his time in Black Flag. Two came from the 1979 “Nervous Breakdown” EP and the other two from the shelved “Damaged” sessions.

It is the band’s first standalone release in more than thirty years.

They cut it at The Boat, the studio owned by Rancid guitarist and singer Tim Armstrong, with Raul “Riff” Cuellar producing and engineering. The sleeve is a new drawing by Raymond Pettibon, the artist behind most of Black Flag’s original covers.

It comes out digitally and on 7-inch, CD and cassette. In Spain and the rest of Europe it is handled by the British label Futurismo, with a white-and-black splattered vinyl edition limited to a thousand copies; everywhere else the band sell it themselves.

In December Circle Jerks play six California nights paired with a screening of “Repo Man”, the 1984 film in which they appear as a lounge act playing “When the Shit Hits the Fan”; at each screening they will perform “Coup d’État”. They start on 4 December in Sacramento and finish on the 12th in Gardena.
