On 12 February 2027 Cloak will release “Above, Below, & Through”, an eight-track fourth album and their first for Metal Blade. The Atlanta band, formed in 2013, put out the previous three on Season of Mist: “To Venomous Depths” (2017), “The Burning Dawn” (2019) and “Black Flame Eternal” (2023).

It’s also the first with the new lineup. The two founders, singer and guitarist Scott Taysom and guitarist Max Brigham, are now joined by Matt Morris on drums and Rafay Nabeel on bass. “Nigredo – Initium”, the lead single, was the first song they worked on together: “It is the initial door that opens to the world that is Above, Below, & Through, and the start of a new dark age,” the band say.

Taysom says the songs deal with “pathways between life and death, realms between dream and consciousness, shifts between beast and man”. Alex Parra produced it, with John Douglass as drum engineer, and the cover art is by Jordan Barlow.

So far the band have only announced US dates, starting on 7 November at the Mass Destruction Metal Fest in Atlanta.
