Eivør has released «Spøkilsir / Revenants», a preview from «Tungl», the record the Faroese singer puts out 16 October via Nuclear Blast, her first for this label. It’s ten tracks, most with titles in both Faroese and English, and the album’s name means «moon».
The track blends dream-pop and trip-hop, and she explains it like this: «We all carry ghosts. Things from the past we wish we’d done differently, or flaws of our own we try to hide from the world. But often, when we learn to fully accept other people’s flaws and dark corners, they become endearing.»
The video is by Gwenaël Akira, who devised a box of mirrors built by a team of artists from the Faroe Islands. She calls it «almost a room inside the mind»; he adds it was «a space where a single body could become many».
To present it she’ll play three shows in October: two consecutive nights at Casa Nòrdica in Tórshavn, on the 16th and 17th, and a third on the 23rd at the Eldborg hall of Reykjavík’s Harpa, this one with guests. This summer she’s played Paléo, Brutal Assault, Summer Breeze and ArcTanGent.
A tour follows: nineteen North American dates from 28 October to 22 November, and twenty-four European dates from 24 February to 27 March 2027, with Paris and Milan the closest stops. None in Spain.
