Fischer-Z celebrate fifty years with a new album and a stop in L’Hospitalet

Fischer-Z play Salamandra, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, on Friday 18 September, doors open at 20:00. Advance tickets are 32 €, 35 € on the door, and the show is part of the band’s fiftieth-anniversary tour.

They arrive with a new album, “X-Ray Serenade”, released this year. Fischer-Z has always been the project of John Watts, who keeps its nervy high voice, dry guitars and lyrics that turned European politics into pop-song material. Between “Word Salad” (1979) and “Red Skies Over Paradise” (1981) they released the bulk of the catalogue that made their name, with the reggae pulse of their contemporaries and a more anxious tone. On mainland Europe they’ve always kept a loyal audience they lost early on in Britain.
