High Parasite released «The Screams That Come» on 11 September through Spinefarm, a standalone single with a visualiser. It isn’t part of any record: it follows «Cold», from 2025, and «Drag Me Under», a B-side from the debut sessions that came out in March 2026. Their second album, for which no title or date has been announced, is planned for early 2027.
It was produced by Gregor Mackintosh, guitarist of Paradise Lost, and mixed by Lawrence Mackrory. The quintet is Aaron Stainthorpe on vocals, Danny «Tombs» Lambert on bass, Sam Hill on rhythm guitar, Jonny Hunter on lead guitar and Dan Brown on drums.
«We’ve coined the term death pop to describe our music,» says Stainthorpe. «We have a strong affinity for everything gothic and dark, but at the same time we’re collectively drawn to hooks and strong melodies, the choruses that stick in your head.» He compares it himself to a vampire’s smile: welcoming from a distance, with sharpened teeth.
Stainthorpe founded My Dying Bride in 1990 in West Yorkshire and fronted them from «As the Flower Withers» (1992) through to «A Mortal Binding» (2024). The band let him go on 9 October 2025 and continues with Mikko Kotamäki, of Swallow the Sun, at the helm. Since then, the singer has also been fronting Towards The Sinister, a project with other former members of the band.
This 12 September they play London Metalfest, at Camden’s Electric Ballroom, on a bill headlined by Candlemass, and on 31 October they play their own show at the Albany Arcade in Halifax.
