Dirty Shirt released “A Brighter Day” on 16 October, a song with Ian Anderson on flute. It is the third advance from “Balkansylvania Vol. 1: Roots”, the album the Romanian folk-metal band release digitally in January 2027.

Anderson chose the song himself. “After he accepted to join us as a guest, I sent him demos of five songs so he could choose the one he liked best,” explains Mihai Tivadar, the band’s composer and producer. The Voltaj Academy choir sings on the track as well.

Anderson is not the album’s only guest: Hungary’s Besh o droM are on it too, along with musicians from Ibrahim Maalouf’s line-up. The artwork is by Costin Chioreanu, the Romanian illustrator who has worked for Ghost, Arch Enemy and Opeth.

“Balkansylvania” is a project split in two. The first volume, “Roots”, comes out in January in digital form only; the second, “Routes”, arrives in 2028, and that is when the physical edition of both appears, on double CD and vinyl. The tour that goes with it takes in Romania, Slovakia, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland, with no Spanish date.
