Iron Maiden release a commemorative edition of «Somewhere in Time» on 4 December, the record that turns forty this year. It comes out on oxblood-coloured vinyl, using the 2015 remaster. It’s the band’s sixth studio album and the first on which they introduced guitar synthesizers.
Of that whole record, the current tour only keeps «Wasted Years» in the set. «Alexander the Great» wasn’t played live until 2023 and isn’t part of the «Run For Your Lives» setlist.
December also brings a vinyl box set with the band’s first nine studio albums, each pressed in a different colour, from the 1980 self-titled debut through to «Fear of the Dark» (1992). The edition marks fifty years since the band formed, and no release date has been confirmed yet.
«Somewhere in Time» came out in 1986, two years after «Powerslave», with cover art by Derek Riggs: a robotic Eddie amid a neon-lit city.
The «Run For Your Lives» tour has already kicked off its North American leg with a stadium-scale stage production. The band headlines the Louder Than Life festival in Kentucky.
