Kuhn Fu play Room 1 at the Jamboree on Wednesday 28 October, in two sets, at seven and half past eight in the evening. General admission is €21 and members pay €17, and MasiMas Live is promoting it.

The quintet is led by guitarist and composer Christian Kühn, with Sofia Salvo on alto and baritone saxophones, Ziv Taubenfeld on bass clarinet, Esat Ekincioglu on bass and George Hadow on drums. The band formed in 2012 in Groningen, in the Netherlands, and has since played more than four hundred concerts in twenty-three European countries. In 2023 they were nominated for the German Jazz Prize in the composition of the year category.

The venue bills them as a mix that “dynamites the conventions of jazz” and lists the references: Zappa and cabaret, surf sounds and metal riffs, with Mingus, The Who, Stravinsky and Moondog as godfathers. Behind the list there is one very specific decision about instrumentation: a quintet with no piano and two low instruments out front — Taubenfeld’s bass clarinet and Salvo’s baritone — so the harmony is carried by the guitar and the weight of the sound sits at the bottom.

The venue listing does not say which record they are touring, and there is a new one: “Gamgumsupon” comes out on 16 October on Berthold Records, twelve days before the show, and the band bills this tour as its launch. It is a live recording made at the Zentrifuge in Berlin on 13 and 14 October 2025 with the expanded eight-piece line-up. The label’s catalogue has not caught up with it yet.

The Spanish run is three nights back to back: after Barcelona they play the Matisse Club in Valencia on the 29th and Jaén Jazzy on the 30th. It is the only Catalan stop.
