Kula Shaker will release “K-Reinkarnate” on 5 February 2027 through Strange F.O.L.K. Records. It is their first album, “K”, from 1996, recorded again from end to end by the original line-up: Crispian Mills, Alonza Bevan, Paul Winter-Hart and Jay Darlington.
It was cut live to two-inch tape at Middle Farm Studios and mixed by Peter Miles and Ash Howes. “That’s the whole meaning of the word ‘reincarnate’ — it’s not about replicating K but summoning its spirit by playing it live and giving it ‘new flesh’,” says Mills.
There are eighteen tracks. Three are songs cut at the 1996 sessions that were left off the album — “Shower Your Love”, “Hush” and “Drop In The Sea” — and are now back in the running order. The fourth addition is “She’s So Free”, an unfinished recording recovered from a two-inch master tape: the piano, acoustic guitar and lead vocal survive, and the rest was played and sung in 2026.
The announcement came with the newly recorded “Govinda”, the single they sing entirely in Sanskrit. “It was the first song we ever played, blagging our way onto the Krishna stage at Glastonbury 1993, and in many ways it’s the song that came to define us,” says Mills.
The UK and European tour starts in February and ends at London’s Troxy on 20 March. There is no Spanish date.
