Lynyrd Skynyrd live in Cardiff, 2010

Lynyrd Skynyrd play the BARTS Festival on 9 July 2027, at the Poble Espanyol in Barcelona. The southern American band is the first international act the organisers have confirmed for the festival’s second edition.

The group, formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1964, is still going under singer Johnny Van Zant — who replaced his brother Ronnie in 1987 — and guitarist Rickey Medlocke. No original member has been left since Gary Rossington died in 2023. The band entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 13 March 2006. The organisers have not detailed the setlist.

The first BARTS Festival closed last July with more than 68,000 people through the gates. Tickets for Lynyrd Skynyrd go on sale on Friday 2 October at noon at barts.cat.
