Machine Head released “Sutures” on 20 October with no prior announcement. It comes ten days after Robb Flynn posted a text on the band’s website closing the cycle of “UNATØNED”, the album they put out in April 2025.

“So to say this album cycle has been unpredictable would be putting it mildly,” Flynn wrote on 10 October. The text counts a year and a half on the road with four drum techs, four monitor engineers, three video techs, three booking agents and seven guitar players, three of whom never made it far enough to play a show. The band played seven nights as a three-piece, which it had never done in more than thirty years of history.

That same text ended by saying they were taking time off, going home, and would work out the future later on.

The band has not said what label the new track is out on, or whether it belongs to any album.
