Matters Unknown, the project of Jonathan Enser, released “The Wind and the Forest” on 17 September, his debut on Tru Thoughts. Miles Spilsbury, of Puma Blue and Physics House Band, collaborated on the songwriting.
Enser describes his sound as “celestial blues wrapped in contemporary global grooves,” a blend of spiritual jazz, psychedelic soul, ambient and rhythms with global roots. On his creative process he says: “My practice has always been about stripping away the layers of ego and socialised constructs.”
Before this solo debut, Enser had collaborated with Nubiyan Twist and had played at Montreux Jazz, Glastonbury and We Out Here, touring India, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
