Seventh Wonder have released “Memories”, with a video, as the first advance track from “VII”, due on 29 January 2027 through Frontiers Music. It is the Swedish quintet’s first album since “The Testament” (2022) and the first with Mattias Olofsson on vocals.
Olofsson, who comes from the Swedish band Grand, joined in February this year: on the 2nd they introduced him with a version of John Norum’s “Eternal Flame”, originally released in 1987. “We really took our time in finding a new singer and, while the rest of the band remains unchanged and therefore also much of the songwriting, we are excited to go to new places where haven’t ventured before as Mattias will put his mark on the band’s sound,” bassist Andreas Blomqvist said at the time.
Tommy Karevik announced he was leaving Seventh Wonder on 12 June 2023, eighteen years after joining. He still sings in Kamelot, which he joined on 22 June 2012: the two overlapped for eleven years.
“VII” has nine tracks: “Memories”, “Riverside”, “The Villain And The Whisper”, “Evermore”, “Cry Wolf”, “The Storm”, “Silver Lining”, “Echoes” and “Ad Infinitum”. The line-up is completed by Johan Liefvendahl on guitar, Blomqvist on bass, Andreas Söderin on keyboards and Stefan Norgren on drums; the first three have been there since 2000.
