Progressive Rock

El Paraiso Records releases “Terramar” on 27 November, the first album by the group of the same name, which the label describes as “the confluence of Causa Sui and SoCal guitar genius Isaiah Mitchell”, of Earthless. It was recorded during a week-long immersion at the studio the label keeps in Odense. The players are Mitchell, Jakob Skøtt, Rasmus Rasmussen, Jonas Munk and Jess Kahr, with Munk mixing and mastering; the announcement doesn’t say who plays what.
“Ritual De Fantasmas” is already out, with a video. The track weaves “12-string guitar, synths, and rolling bongos into a hypnotic groove”; Mitchell filmed the video in the San Diego surf scene and Skøtt edited it.
The label places the record between Californian psychedelia, German kosmische and Scandinavian commune rock, and puts it next to Earthless, Popol Vuh, Träd, Gräs & Stenar and Causa Sui themselves. It points to “Swell” and “Melted Mountain” as the tracks that fly highest, and to “Ritual De Fantasmas”, “Caterpillar” and “Borrego” as the ground where synthesizers and studio manipulation come in.
It comes on black vinyl, on teal vinyl, on CD and digitally, priced between sixteen and thirty euros. The press release doesn’t give a tracklist or the number of tracks, and there is no statement from any of the five musicians.
