Voivod have cancelled the ten US dates they were due to play this October, with BAT supporting and the first night set for 8 October in Youngstown, Ohio. They announced it on Friday 2 October.

“Dear Fans, it is with heavy hearts that we must cancel the US tour dates with BAT due to family health emergency in the VOIVOD clan,” the statement reads. “We would like to say postponed and give you a new time period but VOIVOD can’t commit to any dates right now.”

Refunds are being handled at the point of sale, and the band ask for a few days’ patience while the ticketing systems process them.

The clan the statement refers to has had two cancer diagnoses in recent months: drummer Michel “Away” Langevin spoke about his brother Carol’s pancreatic cancer, and singer Denis “Snake” Bélanger about his partner Christine’s colorectal cancer. The statement doesn’t say which of the two is behind the cancellation, or whether there is a third.
