Otxque!

Thirty years have passed since the formation of Otxque!, a symphonic rock band from La Canonja (Tarragonès, Catalonia), active between 1990 and 1994. Over their career they recorded one album and were declared winners of Tarragona’s Canya’n’roll ’93 contest.

The core line-up was made up of four musicians from La Canonja: Dani Espasa, Pep Espasa, Jordi Brunet and Jordi Alemany. At today’s concert, 29 March, at Tótum Revolútum, they delivered an outstanding performance that, while carrying a touch of nostalgia, proved their music still holds up. A particularly moving moment came with the participation of Dani Espasa’s daughter, adding a family, intergenerational dimension to the event.

Dani Espasa, born in La Canonja, is an eclectic musician with a notable career as pianist, harpsichordist, accordionist, composer, conductor, producer and teacher. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Maria del Mar Bonet and Lídia Pujol, and worked on theatre productions with directors including Lluís Pasqual and Calixto Bieito. He currently combines his artistic career with teaching at ESMUC and the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid.

Pep Espasa, for his part, has been a member of several bands, notably Apple Smell Colours and On The Raw, lending his experience and talent to different musical projects.

Today’s performance was proof of Otxque!’s artistic maturity and their ability to connect with the audience, leaving the hope of enjoying their music again in the future.
