The celebration of Zeleste’s 50th anniversary closed with ‘Música Laietana’, a concert devoted to the Barcelona Art Orchestra (BAO) featuring some of the leading figures of that era: Joan Albert Amargós — who also conducted — Carles Benavent, and Xavier Batllés. Toti Soler was unable to attend due to illness.

Alongside the BAO, an orchestral reworking of emblematic pieces from Música Urbana, Orquestra Mirasol, Toti Soler, Blai Triton, Jordi Sabatés, Iceberg and other names from the Zeleste era was performed. ‘Música Laietana’ marked a fruitful meeting between several generations. It was also a landmark for the BAO, an orchestra with choral direction — Joan Vidal, Lluc Casares, Lluís Vidal and Néstor Giménez — born just over two years ago “to offer,” as they put it, “high-quality performances that, starting from jazz and chamber music, explore a range of musical genres.” A first-class closing night for Mas i Mas ’23.
