Indianapolis death-doom band Mother of Graves have unveiled «The Silent Weight Of The Stars», the first preview from «The Light That Keeps Us», out 16 October via Profound Lore Records.
The record is produced by the band’s own guitarist, Ben Sandman, and mastered by Dan Swanö, who also guests on vocals on «Wingless Soul». The cover art is a painting by Larisa Brechun. Rounding out the line-up are Brandon Howe on vocals and keyboards, Chris Morrison on the other guitar, Corey Clark on bass and Don Curtis on drums.
Of the previewed track, Morrison explains its origin: «It all started with the main riff, which I couldn’t get out of my head, and we built the song around the balance between the hooks and the emotional weight».
It’s the band’s third record. The previous one, «The Periapt Of Absence», placed eleventh on Decibel magazine’s list of the year’s forty best albums.
