Brainstory have announced “Shoebox Days”, a seven-song EP out on 13 November through Big Crown Records. It’s the last work recorded at Shoebox, the Long Beach studio where the trio used to record: a small room, packed with gear and full of limitations, which has now closed.
The tracklist is “The Watchers”, “Blend”, “Twin Kitchen”, “Home Alone”, “Lone Traveler”, “Gravity Hill” and “Necessary Loss”. The first two tracks are already out: “The Watchers” opens with a horn line, dry drums and G-funk bass, and “Blend” is the second preview.
The band is brothers Kevin and Tony Martin and Eric Hagstrom, from Rialto, California. They debuted in 2019 with “Buck”, followed in 2021 by the largely instrumental EP “Ripe”, recorded by themselves, and in 2024 by “Sounds Good”, their second full-length.
