N8NOFACE debuts on Stones Throw with “Tomorrow’s World”, the album out on 16 October, produced by Dave Sitek, of TV On The Radio, who has also worked with Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Weezer. Hudson Mohawke, Angélica Garcia and Nick Zinner all feature.
The title comes from a 1960s British TV programme about technology and science: N8 discovered it through a Kraftwerk clip that appeared on it, often cited as the moment the band broke through to a wider audience.
N8NOFACE is from Tucson, Arizona, and has spent two decades in the underground, with early support from people like Travis Barker and Virgil Abloh. “Put me in a cell and I’m calm as hell; put me next to other artists and I’m shaking with fear,” he says of growing up as an artist without fitting into any scene.
The record, he explains, imagines what punks and street kids would be listening to in 2077.
