Megadeth have announced a limited-edition box set of “Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?” for 25 September. The album came out in Japan on 19 September 1986 and in the United States on the 25th, so the box set arrives exactly forty years after the American release.
“‘Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?’ turns forty today. This album has taken us on so many epic journeys over the years, and in honour of the fortieth anniversary, we’re releasing a limited-edition box set on 25 September,” the band wrote. They haven’t detailed its contents or formats.
It was recorded by the line-up of Dave Mustaine, bassist David Ellefson, guitarist Chris Poland and drummer Gar Samuelson, and produced by Randy Burns with Mustaine. The cover, with Vic Rattlehead in front of a ruined United Nations headquarters, is by Ed Repka. The bassline of the title track was for years the theme tune of MTV’s music news bulletins.
The self-titled album the band presented as their last came out on 23 January this year, and the farewell tour began on 15 February.
