Devin Townsend plays solo and acoustic at Salamandra, with a Q&A and seated capacity

Devin Townsend performs on Saturday 10 October at Salamandra, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Doors open at seven in the evening, tickets cost 60 €, and the promoter is Madness Live.

The show is part of the Metamorphosis Solo Tour, and the format is very different from what the Canadian usually brings: he plays alone, acoustically, and the show includes a Q&A with the audience. It’s an all-seated capacity, unnumbered seating.

The tour isn’t presenting any particular album; the set spans his whole career. Townsend’s latest release is “The Moth”, out on 29 May 2026, an orchestral and choral work, the most ambitious he’s put his name to. Before that came “PowerNerd” (2024), far more direct in approach, and “Empath” (2019), which packed in choirs, orchestra and four drummers at once.

He was 21 when he sang on “Sex & Religion”, Steve Vai’s album released in July 1993, and hadn’t yet founded Strapping Young Lad. Since then he’s worked under a wide range of names and formats: the industrial metal of “City”, the ambient of “Ghost”, the Ziltoid concept operas, and the albums under his own name.
