THE RUBINOOS (USA)
If your favourite artists include the likes of Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Big Star, The Raspberries or Badfinger (not to mention those other giants of popular music whose names also start with B and released on the same label as those last two), the Americans The Rubinoos pack together pretty much every element those bands used to create the genre known as Power-Pop.
Rounded-out songs, memorable melodies, harmonies inspired by doo-wop and the 60s vocal groups, all of it powered by muscular instrumentation.
Anyone who has seen them live on their pre-pandemic visits knows they keep their incredible voices in top shape, vocal gymnastics in the service not only of their mega-hits «I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend» or «I Think We’re Alone Now», but also the impressive string of hits they’ve racked up over five decades of career: «Amnèsia», «Rock&Roll Is Dead», «Hard To Get», «You Hit The Nerve», «Early Winter», «Not Just Another Pretty Face»,
«Must Be A Word» or «Hurts Too Much».
Five years after their last tour in our country, the Berkeley band visit us again on a tour that will let us enjoy all these classics, their most requested covers, and some of the tracks from their latest studio album, produced by Chuck Prophet.
SUZY & LOS QUATTRO (Barcelona)
A return to the stage for these titans of Hard Pop — after almost four years away — one of the most internationally minded bands in homegrown rock’n’roll. They masterfully blend Blondie, the Ramones and the Beach Boys. Bite-sized pills in the shape of a perfectly rounded song. Plenty of punch on the guitars and live. They’ve been waiting to get out of the cage this whole hiatus, so watch out, they bite!
