«Antillia», Artificial Brain’s fourth album, comes out 13 November on Profound Lore Records. It’s nine tracks, and the first one heard is «Quantum Malignancies», sitting second in the running order behind «The Wandering Star Prion». The closer is the title track, «Antillia (In Chromatic Aberration)».
It’s the first album with Mike Paparo, singer of Inter Arma, and drummer Alex Tomlin, of Battlemaster, who round out the line-up alongside guitarists Dan Gargiulo and Oleg Zalman and bassist Samuel Smith. The band, who came up out of Long Island, are now based in Richmond, Virginia. The mix is by Ian Jacyszyn, of Aeviterne, mastering is by Colin Marston, of Krallice and Gorguts, and the preview features a guest vocal from Paulo Paguntalan, of Miasmatic Necrosis.
“This song’s frenetic energy culminates in a guitar solo duel, which is another key piece of this record’s identity,” says Smith. Paparo explains that the album as a whole turns on “humanity’s struggle with the universe and all its horrors,” and that the first preview grounds that idea in technology in the hands of those who rule, and in “calculated depopulation.”
The previous album, the self-titled «Artificial Brain», came out in 2022 and was the last with Will Smith on vocals.
