Mike Bloomfield’s last recorded concert, taped fifteen days before he died, is out on 9 October

Liberation Hall releases “Dark Road Blues: Santa Cruz 1981” on 9 October, the concert Mike Bloomfield played on 31 January 1981 at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz, California. It comes out on vinyl, CD and digital.

He plays alone, moving between acoustic guitar and piano, across ten songs and some thirty-nine minutes: “Dark Road Blues”, “Mean Mistreater Mama”, “I Don’t Know”, “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out”, “Kansas City Blues”, “T.B. Blues”, “Country Mechanic”, “Frankie & Johnny”, “Fool For A Cigarette / Feelin’ Good” and “Come On In My Kitchen”. The sleeve notes are by Chris Morris.

Bloomfield died on 15 February that year, aged thirty-seven. Fifteen days separate that concert from his death.
