Nightwish release “The Greatest 30 Years On Earth” on 11 December through Nuclear Blast. It is not a studio anthology: it gathers live audio and video — the Amsterdam concert from 2022, the homecoming show in Kitee from 2023 and the sessions from “An Evening with Nightwish in a Virtual World” — and it comes in three formats: a three-CD earbook with a Blu-ray and a thirty-six-page booklet, a box of four silver and blue vinyl records with the same Blu-ray and the same booklet, and a third pressing of four white records with a blue corona sold only from the band’s own shop.
The boxes carry an interview done this year with Emppu Vuorinen and Tuomas Holopainen about the band’s history, a new documentary by Ville Lipiäinen on how Holopainen writes, private photographs and archive material from people who have worked with them.
The advance is the video for “Tribal”. “Release your inner ape, enter the tribe, forget everything that is not now, and join the skeleton dance,” Holopainen says of it. The song is from “HUMAN. :II: NATURE.”, which came out on 10 April 2020, and the video was shot live in Amsterdam in 2022.
