Floor Jansen releases “Hytress” on 15 January 2027 through REVAMP Music and Warner Music. It runs to twelve songs and is her second solo album, after “Paragon”. The advance track is “Bring Me Silence”.
The Nightwish singer puts it like this: “I don’t wanna copy-paste something written by Tuomas. I mean, it’s as good as it gets, so it makes no sense for me to kind of try and do the same thing.”
She says the songs do not have her band’s long structures. “They don’t have the long song structures that you can hear in Nightwish. These are so much more compact — in that sense, more pop songs, but with a very heavy jacket on.” The starting question was how to get there without the usual sounds: “How can we get this kind of a feel without necessarily having to use the standard sounds?” The base of it all is guitar, she says, “and then it just got morphed into whatever sound fitted the atmosphere”.
The twelve tracks are “Reverse Polarity”, “Everything Is Moving On”, “In Wildfire”, “Cathedral Of One”, “Bring Me Silence”, “Fighting”, “I Am Drowning”, “Rock The Bells”, “It’s Time For Change”, “Verity”, “Run” and “Haven”.
The Hytress tour starts on 14 January at Trix in Antwerp and goes on to the Bataclan in Paris, Electric Brixton in London, Pratteln, Prague, Warsaw, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Helsinki, Utrecht and Tilburg. There is no date in Spain. Jansen has said there will be more shows.
