Behemoth have released «In League With Satan», the second preview from «I, Scvlptor». It’s the Venom classic, featuring guest vocals from Shagrath of Dimmu Borgir, with a video by Polish collective Grupa 13. It’s available digitally through Nuclear Blast and comes out physically via Massacre Records.
«I, Scvlptor» has eight previously unreleased tracks, seven studio and one live. Two are re-recordings of early material from the band — «Rise of the Blackstorm of Evil», from 1992, and «In Thy Pandemaeternum», from 1998 — and there are two more tribute tracks: the Venom cover and Bathory’s «The Return of Darkness and Evil», featuring Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ.
Nergal explains that the idea of recording the Venom track and naming the joint tour with Dimmu Borgir after the same title came about almost simultaneously, and that recording it with seven-string guitars gave it enormous weight and a completely new dimension. He himself places the record as a bridge between «The Shit Ov God» and whatever comes next.
«In League With Satan» was Venom’s first single, released in 1981, a year before the album «Black Metal». «The Return of Darkness and Evil» is by Bathory, Quorthon’s solo project. Behemoth started out in the early nineties playing black metal in Poland before later moving toward the death metal of «Demigod» and «The Satanist».
The label’s press release doesn’t specify a release date for «I, Scvlptor».
