Joan Chamorro continues to showcase musicians shaped by the Sant Andreu Jazz Band (SAJB), a project now seventeen years old. These recordings are part of the “Joan Chamorro presenta…” collection, which began in 2009 with Andrea Motis and includes names like Rita Payés, Èlia Bastida, Joan Mar Sauqué, Joan Martí and Marc Martín, among others. Koldo Munné’s will be volume number 19. Koldo Munné has been part of Joan Chamorro’s project since he was 8 years old. Since then, he’s recorded twenty-eight albums with the Sant Andreu orchestra. His playing draws on musicians like Lou Donaldson, Charlie Parker and Art Pepper, among others. Also worth mentioning is his work as a vocalist, both singing standards and as a composer. At Jamboree, Munné and Chamorro, leading a sextet with a selection from the SAJB, will record a new album live with a very special collaborator: Scott Hamilton, one of the great names in jazz history. Alongside the American musician, they’ll perform a repertoire prepared specially for the occasion.
